The Bell & Gossett Hoffman Specialty 401488 Model 79 is an industrial and commercial water main vent valve for hydronic heating and cooling systems. Rated for 75 psig maximum operating pressure and 250°F maximum temperature; suitable for water and glycol systems. Brass body with brass or stainless steel float. Dual inlet connections — 1/2 in. female and 3/4 in. male NPT — provide installation flexibility. Air outlet is 1/8 in. NPT, allowing a piped drain connection where water leakage is unacceptable.

Features a built-in check valve that prevents re-entry of air when system pressure drops below atmospheric. Top-mounted replaceable seat and check valve assembly sits above the shell, isolated from suspended dirt; removable for field cleaning or replacement without system drain-down. Vents up to 850 SCIM — the only vent in its class with published capacity ratings. Requires professional installation by a licensed HVAC or plumbing technician.
